HIRSCHI INTERNATIONAL DIGITAL COMMUNITIESaka: the iDC
The Hirschi iDC is an opportunity for students to take advantage of one-to-one access to technology for the entire 2007-2008 school year. Students may apply and receive an Hewlett Packard state-of-the-art laptop to use during the school day as well as take home and continue working on their assignments and research. For students who have internet access at home, the laptop can be configured to work with their own ISP for even more useability.
To apply for this program,
students must complete a two set process:
(1) Obtain, complete, and return the application by the deadline
(2) Pay the $50.00 user fee (explained in detail in the Laptop User Handbook and below)
The applications may be picked up in the front office at Hirschi High School or downloaded from this page. The important dates and deadlines are listed below. Sixty three percent of the students in each grade level (9-12) will be selected to participate in this program, and participation is on a "first-come-first-serve" basis. Applications must be turned in to the Technology Office (Room 142A) to Mrs. Rodriguez, Technology Facilitator.
Once a student is accepted into the iDC, a Laptop User's Agreement must be signed by the student and the parent before distribution of the laptop. Please review the information in the handbook for policies and guidelines that the student will be expected to adhere to. Distribution will be at the first of the school year.

Payment Deadline - May 11, 2007
The fee for the use of the laptop for the entire school year is $50. This non-refundable fee is comprised of a $10 user fee and a $40 premium payment of the accidental insurance policy (see the Laptop Handbook for insurance conditions). This payment must be paid in advance of the scheduled roll-out. All papers and agreements must be signed prior to roll-out as well.
